Working in Ghana

Ghana enjoys a diverse and strong economy, the 10th largest on the continent. Powered by a high performing financial sector, and gold exports, the country has good trade links with South Africa, Europe and India. Its membership of ECOWAS strengthens its regional performance.

Why work in Ghana?

Ghana is one of the top destinations for people searching for work in West Africa. The country is well developed and has a strong, rounded economy, offering opportunities for early career and senior professionals in many fields. Natural resources mean the country has strong mining and extraction industries and excellent agriculture production. One quirk of working in Ghana is the flexibility of time. The working culture means that there is low expectation for punctuality, and you should factor this in to your working approach. The healthcare system is generally underdeveloped in comparison to much of Ghana, so private health insurance is a must. Safety and security is better than many West African neighbours, but be alert. Financial crime is part of every day life, and you should be careful to protect yourself. Ghana does offer a vibrant lifestyle, with a lot of cultural highlights, and is an attractive place to live and work.
